Portable Conservation Classroom A Reality!

Our Vermilion Soil and Water Conservation District is committed to educating our youth and the general public of the need to protect all our natural resources. We are accomplishing this goal through a partnership effort with the Parish School System, the Louisiana State University AgCenter, the Vermilion Parish 4-H Leadership and 4-H students, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau, Louisiana Agriculture in the Classroom, Louisiana Land Bank and our Soil and Water Conservation District.
In seeing the need for conservation education, Vermilion SWCD applied and received a grant through the National Conservation Foundation.
This classroom has begun to give all an opportunity to learn about soil, water, plants, air, animals and recycling, and to let us know what we can do to stop creating problems and start being part of the solutions.
